IBC Career Progression
The career progression within Illinois Business Consulting is very similar to any other consulting organization. You typically begin as a Consultant (in rare cases, you might be brought in as a Senior Consultant if you have prior project management and/or consulting experience). After a successful completion of a project as a Consultant, select students are promoted to Senior Consultants. If you demonstrate leadership skills, you may be promoted to Project Manager. After successfully completing a project as a Senior Consultant or Project Manager, those who display people management skills may be promoted to Senior Manager.
If you demonstrate an interest in and capability for running the business you are able to apply for a position with the Steering Committee. Specific positions available include:
- Student Executive Director
- Operations Manager
- Marketing Manager
- Technology and Communications Manager
- Training Manager
